Why do I need to optimize my site?
Your site was built, with a lot of effort with an audience in mind; if it is not optimized for search engines, you are missing out on a very large part of your audience: 80 to 90% of first time visitors find a website using a search engine. If your site cannot be found on search engines, it will not be visited.

Why doesn't my site rank well?
Many different factors play a part in determining the ranking if your site, among them: page titles, meta-tags, headers, page text, keyword density, link text, keyword relevancy, word order, word proximity, word endings, alternate texts, site structure, inbound links, etc… All these factors don’t have the same weight, and some of them interfere with each other. BeNoted's role is to determine how to tune up each factor so that your site will rank as high as possible.
What is the optimization process?
Optimizing a website consists of three main phases: (see
details)
- Target keyword discovery: in concert with you, we establish a list of keywords that are relevant to your site. The objective will be to improve the site’s ranking for these specific keywords.
- Site tuning report: page by page, we provide a list of recommendations (rated by importance) to improve the ranking of the page for the target keywords.
- Implementing of the report: updating the actual website in accordance with the report.
How long does it take for the SEO changes to appear?
It may take a few weeks to a few months; search engines themselves decide when they update their indexes, and the frequency can vary. However, experience shows that in many cases, SEO updates appear within a few weeks.
What about keyword stuffing (repeating your target keywords over and over on your site)?
Search engines watch for keyword stuffing and other techniques designed to fool them, and penalize the sites that use these techniques. Besides, you want to write pages that can be used and look good to your visitors, not only to search engines; using keyword stuffing or other such techniques will make your site look very unprofessional and "spammy", sending the wrong message to your visitors.

Can I optimize my site for search engines myself?
You can. However, a specialist will certainly do a better job because:
- Search engines change all the time; keeping up to date with them is time-consuming.
- Many factors are used by search engines to determine rankings; a specialist will be aware of all these factors, their respective weights, and how they play with each other.
- From years of experience, a specialist has a “feel” for what works and what doesn’t.
In fact,
a large study (with over 3000 respondents) by MarketingSherpa in 2005 reported that, after an SEO campaign:
- Traffic rose by an average 38% when the SEO was done in-house.
- Traffic rose by an average 110% when the SEO was done by a specialized company.
